Process

Architectural Changes

One purpose of the Ashley Woods Homeowners Association is to maintain, protect and enhance the value of the Ashley Woods community. The HOA does this through review of any proposed architectural changes to structures within the Ashley Woods community and by insuring compliance of all homeowners with the Ashley Woods covenants, by-laws and architectural guidelines.

As an Ashley Woods homeowner and member of the Ashley Woods Homeowners Association, you are required to obtain advance written approval for all changes on your lot.

- Complete and submit an architectural request form to HRW, inc.

- HRW will review all architectural requests for completion.

All incomplete requests will be denied automatically and returned to the homeowner for completion. Please contact HRW at 919-469-8661 if you are unsure of the documentation requirements for your request.

- Architectural requests are reviewed by the Architectural Control Committee and by the Ashley Woods HOA Board. You are encouraged to contact the Committee or the Board in advance if you have questions regarding your request.

- All requests must be reviewed and responded to within thirty days of receipt by HRW, inc. The Committee and the Board are usually able to respond to requests within one to two weeks.

- You will be notified of the Board's decision regarding your request. HRW will send a letter of approval or disapproval to you. Requests that are disapproved may be revised and resubmitted for approval.

Changes

Changes Requiring Submittal include changes to exterior of home or yard including but not limited to:

• addition of awnings or decorative lighting

• change in color or material (siding)

• sheds

• decks

• parking pads/extensions

• enclosures

• fences

• mailboxes

• pools and hot tubs

• live tree removal

Changes which do not require submittal include:

• Minor landscaping

• non-permanent play equipment

• Repainting or restaining with existing color for maintenance

• Removal of dead trees

• Small garden plots out of view from the street

• Storm Doors

Change prohibited:

• Animals other than household pets

• chain-link fences

• Commercial signs

• Metal storage sheds

• Permanent clothesline

• Above ground pools

• Other items not in compliance with covenants
